Abyssinia - 'Abbi'

Bay filly foal born 11.5.2010 by Welton Ambassador out of our and Miri Ringrose’s Trakehner mare, Muschamp Iona.

Abfab! Abbi is bred to go right to the top in international eventing. Her proven sire is from the famous Welton dynasty created by Sam & Linda Barr. Welton Ambassador’s dam Minerva was a full sister to Ginny Leng’s famous Nightcap, winner of 3 gold medals, and half sister to Priceless who won several gold medals and Badminton. Abbi's dam is full sister to Andrew Nicholson’s 4* eventer Muschamp Impala..

She is very elegant with excellent conformation. She has three super paces and has been jumping just for fun since day one! Her temperament is amazingly calm and adult – we can do anything with her.

Abbi qualified for the Saumur Semaine de Dressage last September, she was one of only 32 filly foals to qualify in the whole of France. The Semaine is a week of purely dressage competitions at all levels held at the home of the Cadre Noir.

She was incredibly well behaved – she went to sleep whilst being plaited, hopped into our trailer with mum and travelled like a pro! She was fascinated by the drinker in the stables and spent the whole time emptying it and filling it.

Abbi is bred to eventing lines, so in a competition dedicated to pure dressage we were not only delighted that she was invited but also that she attained a fabulous mark of 74%, with 8.5 for conformation and 8 for her canter. We are so proud!

We weaned her over Xmas to our yearling filly Vaio, it was very easy and they have become great friends although both are quite independent. Abbi can be found asleep in the field shelter whilst Vaio is grazing at the other end of the field!

Finally her first passport has arrived (it only took 8 months!!!) and next she will have a second signalement (description page) at 12 months old. The idea was to sell Muschamp Iona's foals, but Abbi is simply too exciting a prospect to put her on the market at the moment.
